Summary of the First Forum on Ethnic Costumes Research

Abstract

Since it’s renaming in September 2022, the Ethnic Clothing Research Committee of the Chinese Anthropology and Ethnology Research Society has held two academic symposia in Lijiang and Shanghai. The events were aimed at exploring how the cultural heritage of ethnic costumes in the new era can genuinely and effectively consolidate the sense of a Chinese national community and aid rural revitalization. The committee, under the banner of “inherit tradition, innovate culture” and with the theme “Ethnic costume and the consolidation of Chinese national community consciousness”, held the first forum. The forum was a factual and practical implementation of spirit, cultural revitalization, and support for reinvigoration.
